Just got back from my last long run before the Manhattan Half Marathon in 2 weeks. My head wasn’t really in it, it was cold and early, but fortunately I had the group to meet up with and pull me along. I ran with J up to GAP and then we headed back down towards the Brooklyn Bridge. We crossed the bridge and a smaller group of us decided to go around Battery Park before heading back to Brooklyn. I figured to get in my full 17 for the day, I’d head back up to GAP with the group (which was down to just 2 of us by the end, oh well) and then run a little in the park before heading home, so that’s what I did. I ended up going in the park from GAP along PPW to the 9th St exit where I started the downhill trip home.
Since I was so close, I couldn’t resist stopping at the Bagel Hole in Park Slope to pick up much deserved bagels. They fit nicely in my pocket for the 2 miles home from there, and I’m sure the people I passed wondered what was wrong with me, all frozen and tired with a big bulging pocket. It was worth it, that was a good bagel and I got in 17.25 miles in 2:24 according to the Garmin.
Nice work on your run today. I’m also training for a half, but its in March. Looking forward to increasing the miles
Thanks Jill! It feels good to know I’ve done what I can to get in a good half time in a few weeks. Good luck in your training and the race in March!
